Reinhard Flick
Reinhard Flick retired as Staff Oceanographer and Oceanography Program Manager from California State Parks, Divisions of Boating and Waterways and Natural Resources in 2020. He is one of the founders of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Center for Coastal Studies, and continues as a Research Associate at SIO, and a consulting coastal oceanographer.
Melissa Carter
Melissa Carter started the Coastal Ocean Observing Lab over 15 years ago when she became Co-Principal Investigator on several pier based programs. Her focus is to keep our long-term ocean observing programs operational and funded, expand outreach efforts, and ensure these critical ocean data sets are of high quality and available for public use. She received her B.S. in Oceanography from Humboldt State University and later received a M.S. in Marine Science at the University of San Diego.
Kayla Martin
Kayla Martin has been working with the Coastal Ocean Observing Lab since May 2021. Her main focus in the lab is managing the SCCOOS Automated Shore Stations Program, but is also involved in all projects. She graduated from California State University, San Marcos with a B.S. in Biology with a focus in Ecology.
Elena Beckhaus
Elena Beckhaus has been working as a Staff Research Associate in the COOL lab since September 2021. Her main focus is on the Manual Shore Stations Program, but she also works all other projects as well. Before working in the COOL lab, Elena earned her B.A. and M.S. in Environmental and Ocean Science at the University of San Diego.
